Painted Sunglasses!
Alright, so there is a story behind this. Those sunglasses you see over there... those were once my absolute favorite pair of sunglasses. I bought them at H&M, so yeah, sure, they were cheap sunglasses (you should check out that song Cheap Sunglasses by RAC, it's quite nice) but none the less they were pretty stinkin awesome! So one day I set my stinkin awesome sunglasses on the floor and next thing I know, CRACK! The side of my sunglasses just snapped right off! Yes, I was in despair, but I had gotten the idea for this DIY from a website called P.S. i made this, and I really wanted to try it out, and now that my sunglasses had broken, I felt no shame in painting all over them. Like they say, when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade, and when I brake a pair of sunglasses, I provide you with a DIY… you're welcome :)
Stuff:
- Nail polish (as many colors as you want!)
- Sunglasses (best if they have a thick frame so it's easier to paint)
- Masking tape
- Nail polish remover (just in case of mistakes)
Step 1:
Place the masking tape over your sunglasses, I wanted to do some simple color blocking, so I used the masking tape to make a fine line, but you can do polka dots, stripes, etc.. If you need to, tape the lenses as well to make sure that you don't get any polish on them, but the nail polish remover will take off any unwanted paint.
Step 2:
Take the nail polish and paint the frame, the more coats the better. Nail polish is probably the best thing you can use to paint the glasses, because it's water proof and the plastic frame of the glasses replicates the surface of a nail so the polish will stick.
Once the polish has dried take the tape off.
Step 3:
Then place the masking tape along that same fine line and paint! Once the polish dries, take the masking tape off.
Paint the sides of the glasses as well, I just kept the side a solid color, but again you can add whatever pattern or color you want!
HELPFUL HINT: If your sunglasses have these little rivet things, then you can use a needle to scratch off the paint.
And now you're done! To bad I can't wear mine!
Stay gorgeous
